Grejs

Na današnji dan, 14. septembra 1982, poginula je Grejs Keli, princeza od Monaka. O tome piše BBC News ovako.

Na Grejs, kažu razne novine, podseća i devojka princa Alberta, južnoafrička plavokosa plivačica. Na Grejs, kaže ona sama, podseća i B. Obradović, ali to je već druga tema.

Što se Grejs tiče, o njoj se, rekla bih, zna sve, tako da evo podsećanja na njen dolazak u Monako, kratko pre venčanja, koje se desilo u aprilu, pre pedeset godina.

On April 4, 1956 Grace, her family, and 50 of her friends boarded the USS Constitution which was headed for Monaco. The wedding was considered as "The Wedding Of The Century". Grace arrived to Monaco on April 12, 1956. Prince Rainier's yacht came out of the harbor to pick up Grace from the USS Constitution.

Kad smo već kod jahti i brodova: jedna čitateljka pitala je Yahoo početkom leta zašto se brodovi uvek označavaju kao 'she'?

We always assumed desperate or delusional sailors started this tradition. After all, they're out to sea for months with nary a woman in sight. However, it turns out "ship as she" may have had more to do with linguistics than a longing for female companionship. Romance languages (Spanish, French, Italian, etc) assign a gender to many words. In these languages, the word "ship" is always feminine.
